Zohaib Hassan Wins Punjab Chess Championship 2018

Zohaib Hassan of Lahore wins Punjab Chess Championship 2018 with 6.5/07 held from 02-05 Feb. at Grace family Hotel Lahore. The Championship was organized by Chess Association of Punjab (CAP) in collaboration with Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) and under the Umbrella of Asian Chess Federation (ACF) and World Chess Federation (FIDE).

It was a remarkable event in many aspects. It was the first ever FIDE Rated event held in Pakistan in which 24 Fide rated players took part. A record number of players from 21 districts of Punjab were contesting for the title.

Chief guests on the closing ceremony were 15 times National Chamapion IM Mehmood Lodhi and Mr. Mian Zafar Ch.

To ten (6+4) players of the championship have qualified for up coming 31st National Chess Championship 2018 to be hel in March. Mr. Waqar Ahmad Madni was the Chief Organizer and the Chief Arbiter of the event.
